Midi Studio is a modular MIDI control surface for iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad.  It supports sending CoreMidi messages over a Wi-Fi network using the UDP protocol for sending and receiving MIDI messages.  The application allows to remote control and receive feedback from software and hardware that implement the MIDI protocols such as Apple Logic Pro/Express, Ableton Live, Max for Live, Cubase, Pro Tools, FL Loops and many others.  The interface provides a number of different touch controls to send and receive messages:  Faders / Rotary controls / Encoder controls / Push buttons / Toggle buttons / XY pads / LEDs / Labels, etc.

!!!WARNING, by default app not include "Ability to create custom layouts". This feature available only through built-purchase or you can buy a "Midi Studio Pro" version.

Pros and cons of Midi Studio app for iPhone and iPad

Midi Studio app good for

The App is pretty good. Its very useful and better to use iPad as a MIDI Controler than a Hardware MIDI Controler. For who is on a trip and need something to play is awesome.

Has a nice clean interface. Use it in Logic and Reaper. Much cheaper than buying a physical MIDI controller if you already own an iPad!

Works great with Reaper. /anyone who is complaining of no sound obviously cant read and their ratings should be considered spam. Read people!

I have been using this since it came out years ago, and it is still my go to local virtual midi controller. I use the keypad and pad sets for local IOS apps on my ipad and even phone for when most music app keyboards and pads are pitiful , and just dont cut it when creating music in IOS studios, or just jamming out on synths, or drums. Plus, the updates have been constant through the years. Thanks to the developer for a great experience.

Some bad moments

The app has no volume. I cant even hear the notes that I play

App is broken, no sound come from any of the devices, keyboard, or drum machine, zero dollars is too much.

This app is 500mb. I have no clue why it is a midi controller there is no reason it should be this large of an app. If it shrinks in size my review score will go up because 500mb is insane for this apps functionality.

it works but it looks awful: no retina support, bad taste graphics (a golf ball??), it doesnt look professional at all. Please make a restyle

I use this app in Reason and in Pro tools for doing keyboards. It works great, and now they added more control surfaces. Get it

Drum mapping with Midi CCs does not work properly at all after several attempts, as per instructions from customer support. No MIDI pickup mode. When switching presets on a synth, when you move a knob or a fader, youll experience parameter jumping. Some knobs will also move on their own for unknown reasons. App crashes for no apparent reason and also runs very sluggish. This app seems rather bloated for a controller at 450 or so MB. I have synth apps that are smaller in file size which also control MIDI through wifi. In-app purchase popup is extremely annoying, as it continues to prompt to make a purchase that I never intended to buy in the first place. When all of these issues are fixed, this could be useful. But for now, I honestly cant recommend it.
